The Thyme 'Thymus ‘Mother of Thyme’, Thymus serpyllum,
is a fast growing evergreen, ground cover with sweet aroma. Pink to purple
blossoms appear in the summer, with a plant height of 8” and a spread of 12-24”.
‘Mother of Thyme’ should be planted in full sun, tolerating some morning shade,
in a well-drained area.
It does well in dry soils, but prefers a moist
location. ‘Mother of Thyme’ is perfect for rock gardens, near stones or bricks,
or along pathways. It is a favorite to honeybees and has been used in
decongestants, as an antiseptic, cough remedy and a digestive aid.
